Online Slots News: Mystery Vegas Winner, Entain Buys Avid, Hot New Slots
The gambling scene is one of the most vibrant and constantly changing industries in the world, so there is always something interesting to report! This week, we look at some of the latest casino news highlights, including a life-changing slots win that was accidentally left behind in Vegas!
Mystery Slots Winner Located - $200k Jackpot Finally Going Home
This story reads a bit like a movie script. A man was playing slots at a Las Vegas casino. The slot machine malfunctioned, and the player disappeared without realising that he’d left behind a $229,368.52 jackpot. It took two government organisations to find the winner!
The mystery winner was playing slots at the Treasure Island casino on the famous Vegas Strip on 8 January 2022 when he hit the jackpot – but a “communications error” meant that neither the casino nor the player was aware of the win at the time. When the casino realised the error, they tried to track down the player.
When the casino couldn’t find him, they handed over the search to “The Agency” – cue dramatic movie music. In this case, it was not the FBI or CIA, but the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) who saved the day. In what seems like a mammoth task, NGCB agents spent weeks checking over the CCTV footage, scouring transport and digital records, and interviewing witnesses to find the mystery winner.
Arizona resident Robert Taylor was eventually identified as the winner, and three weeks after he had spun the reels, he found out about his win. Naturally, another trip to Vegas was in order, this time to collect his $229,368.52 check.
James Taylor, Chief of the NGCB Enforcement Division said in an official statement, “I commend the agents of the Enforcement Division, particularly Agent Dan Nuqui, for ensuring that the public trust in the gaming industry remains strong by spending countless hours over two weeks to ensure that a patron is awarded winnings owed to him.”
“I’d also like to thank the Nevada Transportation Authority for their assistance in confirming the identity of the patron. This has been a great example of government working together for the benefit of the public,” Taylor continued.
They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas…. Thanks to the NGCB and NTA, this doesn’t apply to Mr Taylor’s jackpot winnings! If you're too far from Vegas to try its legendary casinos, take heart in the knowledge that if you play the best slot games online, you'll never run the risk of accidentally walking away from your jackpot haul.
Latest Slot Game Releases
As you can see from our slots calendar, exciting new online slots are released on a regular basis so you can always find the latest slot demos right here. However, there have been a couple of exceptional ones in the past couple of weeks that you won’t want to miss:
Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter
According to our slots editor, Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter is going to be one of the biggest Play'n GO slots of the year. Following the success of Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead, it made sense for Play’n GO to extend the franchise (and Rich Wilde’s family) to offer more adventures for intrepid slots explorers. Rich Wilde’s daughter, Cat, inherited her dad’s taste for adventure. According to the Play’n GO website, this is the story behind the new release:
"The Book of Dead has been within the Wilde family for as long as Cat Wilde can remember. Thumbing the pages of this ancient book, she notices that pages are missing, no, an entire chapter! When adventure comes calling, Cat can’t help but answer."
Cat Wilde takes you on an Egyptian adventure in this volatile slot game, where treasures and jackpots lie hidden in the reels as the mystery of the Lost Chapter is uncovered… Sound like fun? Our Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter game review has more info, plus a free demo for you to play! Time will tell if the Lost Chapter can compete with the Book of Dead!
Agent Jane Blonde Max Volume
The latest slot in the Agent Jane Blonde series had a weight of expectation behind it. The first Agent Jane Blonde was released by Microgaming in 2005 and has been wildly popular ever since. The second version, Agent Jane Blonde Returns, was a little disappointing, so the third needed to pack a punch to live up to its illustrious beginnings. Microgaming and Stormcraft may not have reinvented the wheel with Agent Jane Blonde Max Volume, but it has been wildly popular since its January release.
